Yolo Energy Efficiency Project

Did you know?
Yolo County businesses typically spend 40% to 60% of their annual utility bill on lighting, and half of that is wasted on old inefficient lighting. Old fashioned fluorescent tubes (T-12s) have inefficient ballasts that heat as much as they light a room, and incandescent lights are even worse.
It's Easy To Fix
The key to big savings is to replace incandescent with compact fluorescent bulbs (aka CFLs or “twisters”), and old-style fluorescent tubes (T-12s) with modern T8 tubes. Modern fluorescent technology offers the following benefits:
Savings: Fluorescent tubes and twisters use less energy, less money, and last longer than other types of lighting. Many businesses that switch to the latest technology save more than $1,000 per year in electricity costs.
Better Color: Compared to earlier technologies, modern fluorescent tubes and twisters offer a higher quality of light and better color rendering. The bulbs are also offered in various color temperatures.
Less Heat: Because fluorescent tubes and twisters use almost all the energy to produce light, very little heat is generated, reducing cooling costs and preventing fire hazards.
Higher Quality-Longer Lasting: Fluorescent bulbs can produce high quality light for up to 8 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs. Many Styles Available-Variety: Twisters are now available for installation in almost any application including, (but not limited to), track lighting, candelabra fixtures, recessed fixtures, some dimming fixtures, bathroom vanity fixtures, and outdoor lighting.
